Netherlands U 17’s  v Welsh Academicals R F C

Lovely sunny day with a breeze blowing left to right down the pitch.

Accies playing with the wind, Netherlands kick off.

Some early exchanges from both teams to no great effect.

After just 5 minutes Accies fullback Rhys Thomas is replaced by Steffan Davies due to an ankle injury.

Both sides settled down and some entertaining handling from both teamsearly on as Netherlands exert some pressure from 15m scrum centre field. Unfortunately Netherlands penalised for dropping the scrum and Accies are able to clear their lines.

Following a penalty to Netherlands on Accies 22, they kick to the corner. After a rolling maul and a number of drives Netherlands score out wide on 13 minutes.  5 v 0.

Accies now exerting some pressure with 10m scrum in front of the hosts posts, ruck ensues , ball turned over Netherlands clear. On 20 minutes, Owen Powell slides a grubber kick through to the corner and winger, Theo Chapman wins the race to dive on the ball and score. 5 v 5.

Both sides continue to try and play , passing the ball from one side of the field to the other. On 24 minutes, a rolling maul from a Netherlands 10m lineout allows no8 to crash over out wide. 10 v 5.

Cellan James replaces Ceian Lewis at prop on 30 minutes.

5 minutes before the break, Netherlands extend their lead with another effective rolling maul. 15 v 5.

Into the second half and some crisp handling from the Accies gets them into the opposition 22. Overthrown lineout allows Netherlands to clear. A period of scrappy play follows, littered with errors from both sides. Finally some good inter passing between Accies backs and forwards takes play again into Netherlands 22. Good defence results in knock on, scrum to Netherlands. A period of persistent pressure from the Accies and on 65 minutesfollowing continuous infringing Netherlands hooker was sent to the sin bin. From resultant penalty Theo Williams burrows over. 15 v 10.

Accies show ambition and run the ball from their own goallineand make ground to opposition 22. After a number to the Accies Ben Boyce forces his way over in the corner 15 v 15.

With very little time left, Netherlands restart lands on Accies 10m line. Some slick interpassing down the blindside puts winger Cellan Davies free on half way. Running down the 5m line, with the full back coming across field to cover, he faints to come inside which holds the fullbacks position, then a burst of speed on the outside leaves the fullback in his wake. He gallops home under the posts. Hari Wyatt converts  15 v 22.

Following the restart, Accies collect and kick the ball dead, referee blows full time.
